How do I book a session?
You can enquire through my contact form or via social media. Once we’ve confirmed a date and package, a deposit secures your booking and the remaining balance is due before your session.
What should I wear?
Once booked, I’ll send guidance based on your chosen session. Generally, solid colours work best and outfits that allow clean lines and movement photograph beautifully. For outdoor sessions, we’ll consider location and season too.
I don’t know how to pose — will you guide me?
Absolutely. I’ll give direction throughout the session while still allowing space for your natural movement. Whether you come with planned poses or need full guidance, I’ll make sure you feel comfortable and confident.
Can parents stay during the session?
Of course. For younger dancers, a parent/guardian must remain nearby. For older dancers, parents are welcome but we may ask for space during certain shots to help the dancer relax.
How long until I receive my photos?
Your full edited gallery will be delivered within 2–3 weeks. You’ll receive a private online gallery where you can download all images included in your package.
How many images will I receive?
Each session includes a full edited gallery. The number varies depending on the session type, but I focus on quality over quantity — you’ll receive a strong, curated collection rather than hundreds of near-duplicates.
What if the weather is bad for outdoor sessions?
If weather conditions aren’t suitable, we will reschedule at no extra cost.
Can I use the images on social media?
Yes! All delivered images are yours to download and share. I simply ask that you don’t apply additional filters and that you credit Photography by Shan where possible.

How do we secure our date?
A non-refundable deposit and signed contract are required to secure your wedding date. Dates are booked on a first-come, first-served basis.
Do you travel?
Yes. Travel within Edinburgh is included. For venues further away, a small travel fee may apply — this will always be discussed beforehand.
How many images will we receive?
Every wedding is different, but you can expect a carefully edited gallery that fully reflects your day — from key moments to natural in-between memories.
Is a meal required for full-day coverage?
For full-day weddings, I kindly request that a meal is provided so I can remain on-site and continue documenting your day without interruption. A vendor meal is absolutely perfect.
Where possible, the meal should be served at the same time as your guests to ensure no key moments are missed.
